It’s a joy to write just to satisfy yourself, to answer a need to get your stories down on paper and express your thoughts and ideas. But if you are looking to put your novel or memoir out into the world, it’s also important to consider your reader, right from the beginning. Who is she? What does she expect from the genre you write in? Are you giving her enough information about the world you’re creating so that she can enter it fully and become immersed in your story? Does your protagonist’s journey pull the reader along through the entire work? This workshop helps you step back and look at what you’re writing through your potential reader’s eyes—a process that can be very revealing for you as the writer too.
