The Power of Archetypes: Writing Characters Alive, with Tzivia Gover

They populate literature and you meet them every night in your dreams: the archetypes of the explorer, the sage, the warrior, the fool, and more. Understanding Jungian archetypes and how to identify them in literature, and in our own imaginations, can enliven our writing and open us to a far richer understanding of character development.  Unlike stereotypes, which diminish our characters’ complexity and uniqueness, archetypes reveal something layered and foundational about who they are.  Participants in this online workshop will write from prompts, engage in discussion, and have the opportunity to share ideas and writing. We will use archetypes as a jumping-off point to develop characters we’ve been working with, and meet some new characters as well! We’ll also learn to tap into our dreamy imagination, including tools for using meditative states and sleeping dreams, to generate new material. Appropriate for writers of all genres and levels, whether you remember your dreams or not.

This workshop will take place online!

Thursday, July 7, 6 – 9 pm ($75)
